I wanted to include an adorable selfie of my son nursing in this post, but even after supporting me across a total of 39 months (and counting) of breastfeeding 3 children, Hubby still felt squeamish about me posting a pic for all to see. Given his tendency to brag about his son being a “total boob man,” I’m shocked that he didn’t want to share an image with the world.
In any case, I included the next best thing – a shot of Baby Boy exploring the world from his favorite front-row seat. Between running a business, caring for small children, and making it through the day, I have very little no free time. Despite the crazy busy schedule, I cherish the moments when I’m forced to stop. sit. be. while my baby du jour nurses – for food or for comfort. I love every moment of watching his chubby face light up with anticipation and feeling his body go limp in total relaxation while his eyes roll into the back of his head…literally.
I even love the middle-of-the-night feedings that everyone assumes are so dreadful. When the house is quiet and we get to connect for a minute before drifting off to sleep, I thank God for somehow giving me the rest I need without missing out on these sweet times.
In short, breastfeeding rocks.
Happy National Breastfeeding Month!
