I’ve heard of and used many effective forms of exercise – some are fun…and others not-so-much. But I’ve come to realize that the very best form of exercise is the one you’ll actually do. Over the years, I’ve witnessed some pretty darn creative ways to fit exercise into a hectic lifestyle, so it’s difficult to surprise me with anything new. But this week my friend, Nikki, shared a super clever, yet simple, tip.
She was leaving my house on Tuesday night and said something like, “Well, obviously I’m planning to work out in the morning.” I asked her why it was obvious, and she said it was because she had her workout clothes on. After seeing my look of confusion, she explained that she sleeps in her workout clothes whenever she plans an early morning workout. That way, she can just roll out of bed, throw on her shoes…and head out.
Sleeping in your workout clothes = BRILLIANT idea. Why didn’t I think of that?
Waking up on a cold morning and fumbling around in the dark trying to pull yourself together for a workout is a major barrier to exercise. Nikki’s idea is uncomplicated, and it makes fitting in exercise nearly effortless.
OK, effortless may be a stretch, but it certainly makes it a heck of a lot easier.
